TOXSA is an accredited voluntary association of South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP). This means that TOXSA members can register with SACNASP and subsequently gain recognition as accredited toxicologists. We would therefore like to urge our members to register with SACNASP in the field of practice of Toxicology. This includes all disciplines of toxicology, such as environmental, occupational, and pharmaceutical toxicology. As per SACNASP’s communication: “If you’re a practicing natural scientist in South Africa, registration ensures legal compliance. The Natural Scientific Professions Act (Act No. 27 of 2003) requires all practicing natural scientists to be registered in terms of Sections 18 (1) and 20(2)(a) of the Act.” Becoming a registered natural scientist thus provides you support with regulations surrounding your scientific and work responsibilities.
TOXSA has allocated funding to assist members with their applications for registration with SACNASP. Should you be interested, please send a letter of request to Prof Werner Cordier (werner.cordier@up.ac.za). Applications for SACNASP-registration should be done online at https://portal.sacnasp.org.za/login. More information of the process can be obtained on their website: https://www.sacnasp.org.za/.
You will need to be a paid-up member of TOXSA to be able to register with SACNASP. To ensure that members’ applications are processed correctly by SACNASP, please send an e-mail to TOXSA (werner.cordier@up.ac.za) so that we can monitor the status of the application. If there is an application that has not yet been processed, please inform us of this as soon as possible.
