With regards to projects the society has started, current TOXSA president, Prof Mary Gulumian, reported that TOXSA has become an accredited voluntary association of the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP), who has agreed to register toxicologists. Only TOXSA members will be able to register with SACNASP as toxicologists and subsequently gain recognition as accredited toxicologists. TOXSA is now officially represented within the International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX) as Prof Gulumian has been elected to serve as a director on the executive committee.
